Questions we get
Straight answers about hosting, ownership, security, time and cost.
Is it a fit?
- Does it work with how our ComputerEase is hosted?
-
We work with ComputerEase on a Deltek-hosted dedicated server, the setup where your company has its own server and its own address. You'll need someone who can grant admin access to it.
Deltek's shared multi-tenant cloud doesn't allow database access, so nobody can extract from it directly. If that's you, the usual path is asking your Deltek account manager to move you to a dedicated server. We'll walk you through that conversation.
- Which ComputerEase modules do you cover?
Job cost, purchasing and inventory, AP, AR, the GL and bank reconciliation, plus Field Expense and AIA billing if you use them. Discovery tells us which of those actually hold data for you.
- We don't have an IT department. Is that a problem?
No. We need one person who can grant access and one who knows the numbers. Often that's the same person.
- Are you affiliated with Deltek or Microsoft?
No. We're independent. We work with the tools your company already licenses.
Your data
- Who owns the data and the platform?
You do. It's built in your Microsoft tenant, under your admin accounts, on your Microsoft bill. We work as guests with access you can remove at any time.
- Do you change anything in ComputerEase?
No. The extract uses its own dedicated login and only reads. It never writes to ComputerEase.
- What never leaves ComputerEase?
Payroll, Social Security numbers, tax IDs, bank and routing numbers, and passwords. They're excluded at the extract, so they never reach the cloud.
- Can the AI agents change our data?
No. Agents read from views and can't change anything in ComputerEase or in your lakehouse.
- Where does our data go when an agent answers?
The agent runs in your Azure subscription and calls the AI model through Microsoft's Foundry service, under your Microsoft agreement. Questions and answers are logged in your tenant.
- How do we know the agent's answers are right?
It answers from the same views your controller reconciled to ComputerEase, shows the numbers it used, and logs every question, so anyone can check an answer against a report.
- Who can see what?
Access is tiered. Owner-level financials sit apart from operational data, report viewers see only their reports, and each AI agent reads only the data it's granted. You decide who's in each tier. More on security.
The project
- How long does it take?
The build is measured in days to a few weeks. Most of the calendar time is waiting on access to the server and your tenant. You'll get a schedule with your quote.
- How do we know the numbers are right?
Before go-live, your controller compares key numbers against the same screens in ComputerEase. Nobody relies on the data until they match.
- What happens after the 30 days of support?
It keeps running on its own. If you want us watching it, handling ComputerEase updates and making small changes, that's a care plan, from $1,000 a month.
- What if ComputerEase changes in an update?
The load checks every file against a fixed contract, so a surprise change stops the load and alerts you instead of corrupting your data. Fixing it is covered under a care plan, or quoted on its own.
Cost
- What does it cost?
Land starts at $12,500, See at $22,500 and Ask at $35,000. You get a fixed quote after the fit call and a short look at your setup. See pricing.
- What will we pay Microsoft?
Typically about $300 to $500 a month for the database and nightly load, plus a Power BI Pro license for each person who views reports on a small Fabric capacity. AI agents add hosting and model usage, which we estimate on the call. Microsoft bills you directly and we never mark it up.
- Why not the cheapest way?
Because moving financial data cheaply usually skips the parts that protect it. Our price includes reconciliation against your CE screens, access controls, monitoring, documentation and a proper handover, all in your own tenant.
Other work
- Do you do anything besides ComputerEase?
Yes: complex CRM and field-service migrations, including customers, jobs, notes and years of photos. See a case study. We don't do accounting or ERP data imports.
